Offline-first inspection software for an engineering firm
A desktop application for site inspectors that works fully offline, produces consistent reports, and syncs with head office when a connection is available.
01
Inspectors worked on remote sites with little or no connectivity, filling in paper forms and typing them up later. Reports varied from one inspector to the next, and photos were often separated from the findings they belonged to.
The firm needed reliable, consistent records it could stand behind, captured at the point of inspection.
02
We shadowed inspections to understand the conditions: gloves, glare, long checklists, and no signal. That led to an offline-first design with large controls and keyboard shortcuts for speed.
Because the data matters, we invested heavily in testing how the application behaves when sync is interrupted or two people edit the same inspection.
03
AuditDesk guides inspectors through structured checklists, attaches photos and notes directly to each finding, and generates a formatted report on the spot.
All data is stored locally and synchronised when a connection returns, with clear conflict handling and a full audit trail of changes.
04
Inspections completed and reported on site, without connectivity
Consistent report format across every inspector
A complete audit trail for each inspection record
